A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring professional for six years and teaching for five. I am certified by the state of Tennessee to teach secondary math. I have worked with all levels of students, from remedial to gifted. I have worked from age 7 through adult learners and had a positive impact at each age and level.
I spend much of time making the student understand that it is okay to feel behind in a subject and that the student should believe in himself. This belief is built on continued practice on fundamentals that I watch them go through but only ask questions when I see them going astray. Everyone needs to learn the material for his or herself. I worked as a tutor coordinator for the YMCA tutoring children from the ages of 12-16. I helped them in basic studies to ensure that they had a grade of a C or better. My goal is to open up an after school program so that I can help students who may need tutoring after school get the grades that they need to pass on to the next level. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening).
