Graduated high school in 2002, with some advanced placement courses. Also attended University of Alaska, Fairbanks and Sebring Career School in Houston, Texas. I've tutored other students in grammar, middle and high school, in addition to those I've babysat and younger siblings. I've also helped student write research papers at high school and college levels.
1. Assess student's current understanding of course material by asking a few questions and having student write a page summary. 2. Student and I again review material and locate gaps. 3. Student and I make timeline (or other visual aid). 4. Student is provided with study skills (reading, writing and memory- I'll bring these) 5. Again review course materials, incorporating new study skills. 6. Student and I search for real-life examples (current events/news, possible field trips, attending relevant events).

Teaching can be a most wonderful adventure. I believe every child can learn. At times students or overwhelming with new concepts, and they need to be encouraged, and praise until they can accomplish the task at hand. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a career counselor for 16 years. I was able to be a tutor for 6 years during this period. During those 6 years, I worked with high school students and tutured them in basic math. This period was very rewarding. Seeing the students go from third or fourth grade level of math to seventh or eigth grade level of math was a natural high for this students. This accomplishment made the students believe more in themselves,in what they can do and it opened more doors for a better future in thier personal lives. Helping children brings out the best in me and I enjoy it very much. This year, in my Bible class, I taught using group work and examples. These students were 12 - 16 years old.
