I graduated from Pisgah High School where I was in the Advanced program. I was required to enroll in the Advanced Math Program (Pre-cal) and Physics. I was also a part of the Math Team for four years and the Beta Club for eight years. As a student at Northeast, I earned a A.S. in Industrial Electronics, as well as, a Long Certificate in Electronics. I've been tutoring my brother-n-law in math for the three years while enrolled at the ITT-Technical Institute in Madison, AL. I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. By getting to know the interests and knowledge of each, I hope to discover bridges that will make learning an exciting and enjoyable process.

In school I took a class that taught us that everyone learns in a different way. Just like how everyone sees things from different perspectives. After taking that class I realized that there is not just one way to teach or learn. I feel learning should be educational but fun. Repetition is also important. These aspects should all be combined in order to successfully help children learn. I am friendly, easy going, and like to have a good time.
