I was a community college English teacher for 12 years at Vista Community College in Berkeley, CA (now Berkeley City College). I taught in a special program tailored to working adults who had returned to school in order to earn their Associate of Arts degrees. This was not an academically confident population. My doctoral dissertation examined college-level remedial reading and writing students in an effort to determine if adding online instruction to traditional instruction would improve student performance.
