I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1989. My degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading. I taught in the same school district for 20 years where I gained experience teaching first, second, third and sixth grade. I am currently employed as the Elementary Student Advisor with the school district that my previous school district recently merged with. My daily duties include teaching guidance classes, advising individual students, working with At-Risk students on homework, and being a liason for parents and teachers. I love my job! The student should be working hard, but enjoying him or herself in the process, and this is when the most efficient and effective learning occurs. I work to impart certain values in the students I serve, including: fortitude, imagination and pride.
