A Little Bit About Me...

As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.

I got the opportunity to assist in a fourth grade classroom, emphasizing the importance of public speaking. I just returned from a semester teaching (English) in Seoul, South Korea. I have a passion for words, for communication and above all, for understanding.

I believe that all children require a different method of teaching. My goal is to find the key to help them become motivated in learning. Sometimes children predetermine that they are not good at an individual subject. If you can find a way to make this subject interesting to them you have solved half the problem.
