My comments on tutoring American History : I recently received my B.A in History from SUNY Plattsburgh and I am currently pursuing a M.A in History at CUNY Brooklyn.

As a student of history in both undergraduate and graduate school I have been trained to read actively, think critically, and write creatively. The one word I would use to describe my teaching style is flexible. If something is not working and my students are not getting what I'm trying to teach I change my lesson plan mid-stream. Each student learns differently, and each class learns differently. It is my job to ensure all of their learning styles are achieved.

My specific style of teaching, especially for the 8th grade, is to read the current book being used, and then present my lesson with lecture, interactive discussion and comprehension, based on the age and grade of the student. I like to put the lesson into terms that the age group can relate to, and then assign a memory technique that will teach the students to recall the proper answer by using the examples we have discussed in class.
