I taught at the elementary level (K-6th) for 14 years; at the junior high level (7th-8th) for 3 years and at the high school level (9th-12th) for 10 years. My strength is teaching basic skills (reading and math) and organizational/study skills and helping students to realize their individual potential.
My teaching style depends upon the learning style of the student. For example, if the student is a visual learner then the student is taught using pictures, books, charts, etc. Or if the student is an auditory learner then the student is taught orally with pictures, books, charts used as supports. As a graduate of BYU-Idaho I have learned the importance of education and how blessed an individual is who pursues it. I was able to take numerous courses dealing with reading, writing and psychological development of children. A Little Bit About Me...

From the time I was 16 years old I have worked around children, teaching them and trying to create positive experiences. I chose to go into teaching because of this. I earned my BS in Elementary Education where my education program required me to work three to four hours a week in a classroom learning from an experienced teacher. Upon graduating college my first teaching position was in the sixth grade where I taught the core subjects. After teaching sixth grade for one year I moved to a fifth grade classroom. I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.
Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.
