Highly motivated, educated, and interested teacher will help

I believe in individual learning styles and matching the teaching technique to the learning style. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is important to learn how to capitalize on the strengths and build up the weakness.
I have been teaching for over 17 years. Being very versatile, I have taught English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Computers, Art, and preschool. I started out teaching preschool and loved it. Then I went to a private Christian school (teaching completely for volunteer pay). From there, I decided that I love to help people learn. I went back to school. Students still will recognize me and I know that I made a difference in their life. It is a great reward to know that at that point in their life, I was supposed to be there.

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, I tutored in a math lab during the summer of my college years and later went into the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe to teach math and science to high school level students. I have also worked as a civil engineer and have directly applied my civil engineering degree in designing grading and utility plans for commercial developments. As a female working in a male dominated field I feel strongly about supporting young girls in pursing their dreams just as equally as young boys. I like being a role model to younger generations and hope that some day there is not such an imbalance in certain areas of study such as the math and sciences.

My teaching follows the experiential learning paradigm with a focus on utilizing the student’s inherent creative skills in order to relate information and pursue skill attainment and enhancement. The tutoring will be very “hands-on” for the student during the sessions, getting them to actively participate in a learning atmosphere by targeting multiple skill-sets, modes of learning, and intelligences.
