My tutoring experiences have been all throughout my life helping friends and family better understand mathematics. I've tutored for pay just once, one night a week for one year. This was while I was a student at Hampden-Sydney College; I worked through the College tutoring Calculus. Recently (in the past month), I've been helping a niece who is in the fourth grade and a friend who is a freshman in high school.
I'm passionate about what I do because I've been through classes in subject matter that I struggled in or was disinterested in and I want to be able to help others feel more comfortable in math where they might be weak or unsure. I also realize that sometimes the issue is motivational not a matter of comprehension. I have been very fortunate to have worked with many different age groups and in many different settings, since I first began working in the education field in 2000. I am a certified Special Education teacher with a BS in Special Education with a major concentration in Reading. I have worked with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have been a remediation tutor, guided reading instructor, teacher assistant, and now I teach Special Education at a local Middle School.

In earning my bachelors of science degree at the University of South Carolina Aiken, I gained a true love for biology. I excelled in entry-level biology classes, as well as higher-level science classes such as ecology and evolution. I am also proficient in writing, English, and math.
