A Little Bit About Me...

Over the years, I have had the ability to work in various grade levels in various school districts. During my student teaching I had the chance to teach first and fourth grade. After graduating, I subbed in many school districts throughout the Capital Region. I worked as a teacher's assistant in a self-contained classroom serving children between first and third grade. I had the opportunity to work one on one with them and contribute to helping them successfully reach some of their IEP goals. I currently work as a Pre-k teacher in a local elementary school and work to meet their indiviual needs every day.
Teaching is my passion! I believe that every child has a person learning style and that once a teacher can tap into the child's interests and find a way to engage them in their own learning, this will lead the child on a road to success!

Before earning a BA in Biology at Skidmore College and after graduating high school, I took three years off to play hockey. Concurrently, I enrolled in classes at Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts and tutored in the math department. I tutored students in algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and some calculus. At Skidmore I continued in math, taking calculus I, II, and III, and linear algebra before focusing my attention on molecular biology. I habitually studied with my classmates and I found great satisfaction helping others understand complex subject matter. The challenge to explain concepts in alternative ways in order to cater to different learning styles was enriching to my own understanding.
