A Little Bit About Me...

Over the years, I have had the ability to work in various grade levels in various school districts. During my student teaching I had the chance to teach first and fourth grade. After graduating, I subbed in many school districts throughout the Capital Region. I worked as a teacher's assistant in a self-contained classroom serving children between first and third grade. I had the opportunity to work one on one with them and contribute to helping them successfully reach some of their IEP goals. I currently work as a Pre-k teacher in a local elementary school and work to meet their indiviual needs every day.
Teaching is my passion! I believe that every child has a person learning style and that once a teacher can tap into the child's interests and find a way to engage them in their own learning, this will lead the child on a road to success!

Throughout my teaching career, I have become accomplished in creating efficient lessons that reach diverse learners and make relevant connections to the world beyond the classroom. I am proficient in the areas of British and American Literature and have designed innovative units based around such classics as The Scarlet Letter and Of Mice and Men. Making germane connections and scaffolding ideas, allows for deeper comprehension, interpretation, and analysis. This methodology, as well as my vast range in experience has allowed me to thoroughly prepare my students for the English Language Arts Exams, English Regents Exam, and PSAT/SAT.
