This teaching position was very challenging--I had to teach several subjects, such as English, social studies, geography, art, keyboarding, drama, journalism, and digital photography. Since the high school was so small, (30 students), much of my teaching was one-on-one instruction. I have strong English skills, as well as a minor in history and a diverse liberal arts undergraduate education. After graduating from Purdue University I wanted to challenge what I had learned and how I would apply that in my own classroom. I was driven to find myself as an educator and a professional. I thought a great place for a small town Indiana girl to do that would be in New York City. I found a job in Queens and never looked back.
