A Little Bit About Me...

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

I stopped working in the hospitals when my oldest child reached the age of 5, so that I could teach my children at home. The four of them are now grown and successful. I employed many techniques during my time homeschooling them, as between them were exhibited several learning styles. It was a delightful experience.

Literature is one of my top subjects! Literature encompasses reading at all levels, while focusing on the form and the meaning of the work studied. Lessons will include discussion, with emphasis placed on discovering and evaluating meanings inherent to the works presented. Comprehension and retention as well as opinion will be stressed. Good writing skills and oral articulation will be fringe benefits to the literature student. *Can be focused to a particular genre or author (such as "Epic Literature" or "Shakespeare" or "Romantic Poets")

Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city. I am well read and well versed in classical and current literature, with published articles and short stories to my credit. I look forward to not just teaching and passing on information, but rather to inspire people to think for themselves, and to think beyond where they are to reach what they could be.
Hands on, project based. Whether with a group or one-on-one, I consider learning to be best experienced when all five senses are utilized to their maximum potential. Students of all ages will learn thro ... read more

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system.
I believe that all children should learn no matter what their ability or disability may be. There should be passionate teachers in the field to be able to take on the responsibility of helping children reach their full potential. As an ed ... read more

I realized that every student learn different and work diligently to get on that child level of learning. My absolute goal was to provide the best learning techniques possible and to make the learning process something that they would want to do instead of being required to do. More About This Tutor...

I am a certified teacher k-12 in visual arts and have been teaching for the last ten years. I have an AA -Aeronautics, BA-Graphic Design, M.Ed.Art and MDiv degree. I have been tasked with improving the reading and writing skills of my students 9th through 12th grade. The majority of children are left brain thinkers and need to be challenged to utilize the right brain to evaluate, analyze, interpret, and understand the meaning of concepts and ideas. Higher level depth of knowledge thinking must employ the elements of the right brain: imagination, creativity, intuition, faith, and innovation, which are all necessary elements in problem solving.
My learning style is best related to maximizing cooperation between the child and the parent, child and the tutor, tutor and parent, and the sending agency sponsoring the tutor. Why should I learn this? - is an important question for everyo ... read more
