A Little Bit About Me...

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

Literature is one of my top subjects! Literature encompasses reading at all levels, while focusing on the form and the meaning of the work studied. Lessons will include discussion, with emphasis placed on discovering and evaluating meanings inherent to the works presented. Comprehension and retention as well as opinion will be stressed. Good writing skills and oral articulation will be fringe benefits to the literature student. *Can be focused to a particular genre or author (such as "Epic Literature" or "Shakespeare" or "Romantic Poets")

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system.
