I believe in life long learning and I encourage children to apply themselves to do their very best.I also encourage children to determine what their best learning style is and to apply their learning style to fit their specific needs. For example some children require a more sequential repetitive approach to learning. Other children require a system in which they practice what they know through an oral approach or a hands on approach to learning. I am currently teaching remedial reading and Math at Mary Immaculate School located in Key West grades k-8

Effective communication with students has two dimensions that can be addressed: stimulating students' interest in and engagement with the course material by making it relevant to their lives that evoke their interest and appropriately challenge them. As an instructor I am providing a student with the knowledge, concepts and skills which enhance their academic goals. How to best demonstrate these competencies will vary from individual to individual. What is important is that I consciously set out to do so, both in the selection of materials to include, and in my explanations of why and how those materials were used. For instance, articulating learning outcomes consistent with how students learn. My philosophy does not guarantee that individuals will be better thinkers or students, but I believe it provides a valuable base to help them think more clearly. It has always involved both th

Teaching by example with the use of hands-on experience and exercises is the best method for learning the actual practice of accounting. Text books teach only very basic theory and are not as useful for practice as it eists in the real world. The studennts must understand theory but must also learn how to apply that theory to real situations and understand when to be creative within the practice. I prefer to attempt to use examples and illustrate situations that the students are likely to encounter in real life rather than a text book ideal. This method will mean much more to a student attempting to make sense out of real practice as opposed to a sample that most likely doesn't exist in the real world. As a senior and after graduation, I tutored accounting students in order to assist with the understanding of accounting principles. I have spent many years training entry level accountants

Elizabeth M - Marathon, FL 33050 (20.9 mi) - Pre-Algebra Tutor - $43.50/hr.
I am a firm believer that every student given an opportunity has the ability to learn. They also must be given an opportunity to learn in the style in which they learn the best, be it visual, auditory or hands-on. I believe and practice a constructivist model of learning. I see multicultural education as a way of reaching all students so that they have an equal opportunity to learn. Students in the future must be prepared for a world job market and tutoring can provide these children with a great opportunity to enhance their skills. I have a BA degree from the University of Central Florida in Education and a current Florida Teaching Certificate. I have taught high school for 18 years before relocating. At that time I worked in the informal education field as an afterschool program teacher and manager of a educational programming business, educational director at a Museum and Nature Cente
