I recently relocated to the Huntersville area. I recently graduated from UNCW with a degreee in Psychology with a focus on children. Since middle school, working with children has been my passion. I realized my dream after some of my cousins came over to America from the war torn country of Liberia and were having a very hard time adjusting. I was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill's Master's Program for Rehabilitation but declined after fearing it would take me down the path of working with the elderly instead of working with children. I have a natural approach teaching style to second language learning. Based on Krashen's research students need to be in an environment that is comforable where they feel they can take risks. I also believe, based on Gardner's research, that students have multiple intelligences. Based on that information I create differentiated lessons which incorporate hands-on activitites, music, etc. We all have the innate ability to learn a language. Second language learning is finding a way to transfer our knowledge we already have in our first language to our second language.
