Although I have never tutored before, I love working with kids and have always had a knack for school, which I hope will translate well into tutoring ability. I spent three Summers working as a volunteer, teaching reading to children of Hungarian refugees in England. I enjoyed working with these young people and they were eager to learn. I am a voracious reader and have been all my life. I am also a writer, I have had articles published in our Diocesan magazine and in the Franciscan Times, I am currently an assistant editor of Franciscan Times. I enjoy writing short stories and reflections. I love to see children discover the joys of reading and it is my belief that being an excellent reader is the basis for learning in other subjects.

I am always driven to do my very best. This has been indicated as I earned mostly A's in all subjects. I have worked in the business world in marketing and I know the value of education. I have a Masters Degree in Teaching. I am currently an EC teacher. I am shocked at the number of students who do not have the basic skills in reading, writing, math, science and social studies but yet the school system continues to pass them to the next grade without these skills. As a graduate in Sports Medicine, I have an extensive background in all science related classes. I also minored in Religion and almost had enough credits to minor in Psychology as well. During the last ten years, I have worked with middle and high school students teaching bible studies, Sunday School classes, mentoring, and also coaching basketball.

My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.
