A Little Bit About Me...

Although I graduated with a degree in Anthropology, it has always been my career goal to pursue teaching and education and to use my knowledge in Cultural Studies to progress my teaching success. My initial teaching experiences were in working with individuals with mental/developmental disabilities, teaching community behavioral and communication skills. I also have tutored students in the past in English and Social Studies. However, the bulk of my teaching has been in English as a Second Language. I had the opportunity to teach in South Korea for 3 years, where I worked with students of all ages in both private and public schools. I have seven (7) years of musical experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra, and pep band. I also have tutored through the Boys and Girls Club along with a program my college inacted for students who were hearing-impaired, mostly in the areas of math and grammar. I have also graduated in the top 10% of my class, both in high school and college. I have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both high school and college. My strengths are math and grammar.
I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. I enjoy watching children learn and build on their learning each day. I also get a great sense of accomplishment when I see the child grasping the concepts they have been trying to overcome.

I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.
As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree.
