A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have never tutored before, I love working with kids and have always had a knack for school, which I hope will translate well into tutoring ability. I feel comfortable stating that I can tutor reading, writing, geography, and history through the high-school level, and any subject at an elementary level. I also have a good deal of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. I prefer a hands-on approach when possible. I lik to help the children relate to what they are learning in order to help them remember it.
I was a straight A student throughout school. I am currently a high school senior, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I have been working with children academically since 2004 in a variety of settings: one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and in the classroom. My area of strength is with students who are low learners or have learning disabilities. I am certified in both Language Arts and Math as well as Special Education and have been teaching both subjects in 7th grade for the past 5 years in Moore County.

I have been a special education teacher for 26 years with the Davidson County Schools. I have taught all grade levels from kindergarten through high school. I am currently a teacher at South Davidson High School in Denton, NC. I have worked in self-contained and resource classrooms; however, most of my experience has been in the inclusion classrooms with a co-teaching setting. I have taught language arts and English for all of my 26 years in the education field.
