A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer a hands-on approach when possible. I lik to help the children relate to what they are learning in order to help them remember it.
I was a straight A student throughout school. I am currently a high school senior, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I have spent a few semesters as a tutor and volunteer assistant in a local elementary school. I have been a special education teacher for 26 years with the Davidson County Schools. I have taught all grade levels from kindergarten through high school. I am currently a teacher at South Davidson High School in Denton, NC. I have worked in self-contained and resource classrooms; however, most of my experience has been in the inclusion classrooms with a co-teaching setting. Reading opens whole new worlds just waiting to be explored.

I spent three Summers working as a volunteer, teaching reading to children of Hungarian refugees in England. I enjoyed working with these young people and they were eager to learn. I am a voracious reader and have been all my life. I am also a writer, I have had articles published in our Diocesan magazine and in the Franciscan Times, I am currently an assistant editor of Franciscan Times. I enjoy writing short stories and reflections. I love to see children discover the joys of reading and it is my belief that being an excellent reader is the basis for learning in other subjects.
