My teaching philosophy has definitely evolved since my first teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant as a Masters Student at the University of Kentucky. I think I was very surprised to discover that teaching is not as easy as it looks, which is when I gained an appreciation for good teachers with effective teaching methods. My various teaching opportunities have led me to view education as a teaching-learning process whereby both me, as an instructor, and the student both strive for a higher level of awareness and understanding. I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs.
