I am, as of this past May, a high school graduate. I was co-president of the National Honors Society and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society at Rochester High School. I graduated third in my class, and I received awards for Physics, Vocal Music, Leadership, and Drama. I received A's in all of the subjects that I am willing to teach and I am comfortable in my knowledge of them. This fall, I will be attending Illinois State University as a Physics and Engineering major. I have never officially taught, but I have been told by my peers that they believe I would have some skill at it. Mostly, my teaching style would involve working through problems or homework step by step with a student at first, and then once they gain more confidence, allowing them to do more work on their own. I was a teacher's aide for three years for children K-3. I also have a communications degree and worked professionally as a journalist. I am comfortable teaching all types of English to all grades. I have the ability to teach children at their level. I like to make it fun and make the child is learning something and has a good experience while learning what they need.

I am very passionate about teaching. I am a very hands-on type of teacher that really likes to get the student involved in their learning. I like to set goals for learning, but also find it important for students to set their own goals as well. I believe that all children can learn, no matter what. It is just my job as a teacher to be able to help figure out their best way to learn as well as bring those resources to that student for their success. The process of learning has always facinated me. I believe that all individuals regardless of age are able to learn something new everyday. I also understand that each individual learns in a different manner from the next. My teaching style is structured so that I try to help each student learn in the way that they are comfortable and are able to understand the material. I believe that if a teacher is able to make the subject matter fun and relevant to the student's life, then that student will be able to not only grow personally, but be able to change the world around him. It is important to me that the student be able to understand the material in order that he be able to make a difference in this world.
