I believe that first and foremost, teachers should inspire students to not only live up to their own potential, but to exceed their expectations and realize that they can meet and surpass any goal they set for themselves. I encourage students to take risks, knowing that I am behind them being fully supportive. My teaching style varies depending on what student I am teaching. I believe that children must be engaged in the subject matter before successful learning takes place. I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program.
