Spanish is one of my top subjects! I have been living in Spain for the past six years and I am not studying to get my Spanish teaching credential. I know what it is like to struggle while learning a language. I want my students to feel confident and excited about Spanish. Teaching is my passion and I could not imagine doing anything else.

I recently just moved back from living in Bilbao, Spain for the past six years where I taught ESL.I have my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and I am currently taking courses to get my credential to teach Spanish. More conversation as opposed to strict textbook learning. In the actual Spanish speaking world, we speak a lot more casually. If students only learn from the book, they struggle to keep up with real life Spanish conversations. Knowledge is power!

I think it extremely important to use visual and audio aids in teaching a foreign language to keep the student engaged in the language. I do not believe in excessive error correction. I think it quite important for language teachers to demonstrate passion for the subject as well as maintain a positive attitude. Instead of criticizing students for making errors in the language which can prove harmful to the language learning process, it is much more important to constantly encourage students to do their best to improve their skills in the language.

Spanish is one of my top subjects! I grew up in Texas surrounded by Spanish, but was not able to really learn it until high school and college when I had a great teachers who made it come alive for me. I went on to get a BA in Spanish and now love making it come alive for others as well. I have experience teaching high school and preschool Spanish, as well as tutoring one-on-one.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I'm Hispanic/Latino and very fluent in Spanish.

I like interacting with students and openly communicating and socializing with students on topics related to math and real-world situations of their own thinking.
I tutored an elementary school student in his math class and then that same school year in the Spring semester I helped out a college student with his pre-Calculus course. This was in 2013-2014 school year and it was a payment at my own discretion and on my own. I also have had experience working in an administration position in Human Resources area and it certainly helped me in organizational skills and communication skills.
