My comments on tutoring Spanish : Spanish and Guarani are my native dialects. I also speak some Portuguese and basic English.

I believe that speaking ability should be the primary focus of any language, along with traditional reading and writing skills. So I would decribe my approach as conversation-based. However, I am willing to focus instruction based on the client's desired outcome.
I am a native Spanish speaking criminal and civil trial attorney. I do not have extensive tutorial experience but I am very personable and professional. I legally immigrated from Paraguay to the U.S. in 2009, following my marriage to my husband who is a U.S. military servicemember. Spanish is one of my top subjects! I am not a Spanish teacher, however I do know how to teach Spanish. I spent a year in Argentina not knowing a word of spanish. I went through a difficult program in which I was taught spanish as a second language and I shared a room with 5 other girls who only spoke spanish. I know how to memorize spanish I know how to study for a spanish test and I can explain the basics of spanish as well as the more complex aspects of spanish to anyone willing to learn. Not only do I know and understand the grammatical aspect of the language but I also understand the different cultures and accents of spanish in different South American countries. I would be happy to help teach or understand or even practice spanish with anyone who needs help and is willing to learn.

My experience is more from life than anything. I graduated from high school in 2011,and I chose to go from there to Argentina where I learned Spanish as a second language as well as studied the bible in a college setting in Spanish. I do not have my certification to translate or interpret however, I have been on a number of missions trips throughout Argentina, as well as in Peru during which I was the only form of translation, or interpretation. Spanish is one of my top subjects! I grew up in Texas surrounded by Spanish, but was not able to really learn it until high school and college when I had a great teachers who made it come alive for me. I went on to get a BA in Spanish and now love making it come alive for others as well. I have experience teaching high school and preschool Spanish, as well as tutoring one-on-one.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2008 with degrees in Spanish and Finance and was chosen as Student of the Year for both departments. After moving to North Carolina in 2009, I worked as a high school Spanish teacher at Wesleyan Christian in High Point, then transferred to the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system to work in finance while also serving as a translator at a school with a heavy Hispanic population. My comments on tutoring Spanish : Native Spanish Speaker. Fluent in both English and Spanish

More conversation as opposed to strict textbook learning. In the actual Spanish speaking world, we speak a lot more casually. If students only learn from the book, they struggle to keep up with real life Spanish conversations. Also, I believe it makes learning less enjoyable if the students are only memorizing vocabulary and learning how to conjugate verbs. I like to try to let them learn memorizing by playing games and activities. Children should learn another language as early as possible so that they retain what they learn and so that it is easier for them in the future

Knowledge is power!

I think it extremely important to use visual and audio aids in teaching a foreign language to keep the student engaged in the language. I do not believe in excessive error correction. I think it quite important for language teachers to demonstrate passion for the subject as well as maintain a positive attitude. Instead of criticizing students for making errors in the language which can prove harmful to the language learning process, it is much more important to constantly encourage students to do their best to improve their skills in the language.
