I sit with students and ask them what they are having trouble with. I will then explain to them and make it as clear as possible so they can understand better the subject they are having trouble with. Once done with my explanation, I will have them work out problems to show me they really understand the subject. It is very important to be patient with every student because some are fast learners and some are slow learners. Depending how much the student is struggling, I will dedicate my time and make sure students fully understand everything they are required to learn.

My teaching style varies according to the different areas of need in each child. No one child is the same, and they all learn in different manners. I approach the student with a safe and clean environment in which they feel the most comfortable learning. I began teaching and coaching swimming in 1980. In 1984, I extended my teaching experience by volunteering for the Eagle Mount program as a downhill ski instructor for students with several disabilities. At this time I decided to pursue a degree in education, which I completed in 1985. I was hired by the Crane District in Yuma, Arizona in January of 1986 and transferred to the Yuma Union High School District in the Fall. I have taught science and coached swimming since that time. Learning should be both meaningful and fun. I have work experience with children of all ages and mental capacities. I worked at a facility called St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children, as a recreation therapist. While there, I worked with special needs children and designed fun/educational programs for them. I have also volunteered at a local library coordinating "craft time" for toddlers. My goal is to help the student become stronger and more confident in the area that they need help.
