I enjoy teach with all different age levels. Most recently, I taught 4th grade science through the FSU Teach Program. It was fun and really showed me how to teach students and make the lessons engaging and fun. Its important to keep the child focused. My teaching style really depends on the person I am working with. People learn different ways. It is important to identify what works best for the person. For example, some people may learn through discussion, while others may need to see pictures or presentations of the subject matter. I like to identify how the person learns first through questions, or by testing them with a simple task first to identify the method which seems to work best for them. Once this has been identified, training can begin.
I have both a bachelors degree and masters degree in business administration/management. In class, I prefer a relaxed atmosphere, with emphasis on each student as a person, not inferior to the teacher, just not as yet knowledgeable enough to teach the subject at hand. In life, these students under my care at the moment may be wiser than I am in many ways regarding many things, but in the classroom where I am the instructor, I am the one in charge. Respect for the teacher and respect for the student is vital in having a well organized classroom, but a friendly atmosphere is just as vital to the learning process.
