I love to see the glimmer in students' eyes when they understand information and make the necessary connections. My first priority is to encourage students in obtaining the self-confidence for mastery. I believe that all some students need is a few successes to make a drastic difference in their performance. I teach students to view information in a new light, with new understandings, that is comfortable for them and that they can recall. I am patient, considerate, and challenging. A Little Bit About Me...

Each student learns in their own way and sometimes that way is not in a classroom setting. A teacher to me is someone who has developed a way to make each student understand the subject matter. This is where I feel I differentiated myself from my classmates and colleagues. I have been successful with my students because I take the time to get to know a student’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. If my student is excited to come talk to me about one of their hobby’s, that means to me they are excited to come learn and grow as a student and a person. My teaching style really depends on the person I am working with. People learn different ways. It is important to identify what works best for the person. For example, some people may learn through discussion, while others may need to see pictures or presentations of the subject matter. I like to identify how the person learns first through questions, or by testing them with a simple task first to identify the method which seems to work best for them. Once this has been identified, training can begin.
I have both a bachelors degree and masters degree in business administration/management. Both of these degrees have given me a high level of knowledge in many areas such as finance, accounting, math in general, writing, and presentations/projects. I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.
