A Little Bit About Me...

Each student learns in their own way and sometimes that way is not in a classroom setting. A teacher to me is someone who has developed a way to make each student understand the subject matter. This is where I feel I differentiated myself from my classmates and colleagues. I have been successful with my students because I take the time to get to know a student’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. If my student is excited to come talk to me about one of their hobby’s, that means to me they are excited to come learn and grow as a student and a person. Both of these degrees have given me a high level of knowledge in many areas such as finance, accounting, math in general, writing, and presentations/projects. I have always been an extremely sharp student excelling in most any course I have taken. I could tutor any of the k-12 age groups, and probably many college level students (depending on the course). I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.

I graduated magna cum laude from FSU in 2003 as a returning student. I spent my first year of teaching out of field teaching Language Arts 6-12. I sat for and passed the FDOE state exam for Language Arts 6-12. I have spent the last five years teaching social science education 8th grade American history.
