My comments on tutoring GED: We can get it done :)

Obtuse; willing to think outside of the box to get the student interested, even, excited to learn. I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. I've taught my nieces and nephew to understand and love mathematics, as well as respect science, which is really just the real-world application of mathematics. I can explain many abstract topics in tangible ways. I love when I see that twinkle in someone's eye when something clicks and they grab onto the topic they once didn't comprehend.

I have taught and tutored since I was sixteen. I currently teach for USC, a few online universities, Syl. Learning Center, and am a Professional Writing Tutor. I teach all grades and university levels, but my specialties are AP Courses and university courses. I have taught everything from 4 yr olds phonics to College level writing and literature to basic maths and sciences to Calculus and Trig. I try to me more personable than most instructors. Many students simply need another approach to a subject to understand the material. I actively find that perfect approach for an individual student.

Individualized attention to the whole student's needs brings the best success. Dr. Griffith Garland studied engineering physics as an undergraduate at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, pioneering the program by being a member of the first class to graduate with that degree. She was twice a member of Who's Who Among American College and University Students and graduated summa cum laude. She put herself through college by tutoring students, working as a teaching assistant, and becoming the training manager at the University's computer lab. She went on to study geochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, where she researched hydrothermal systems on Mars and their implications for life. While earning her Ph.D. at Washington University, she realized that some professors had difficulty conveying material to their students. She decided to be different and completed a Master's of

The importance of education has always been clear to me. I was born into a middle class family without a lot of resources. It became obvious to me that if I desired to pursue higher education I would have to qualify for scholarships and grants. I earned a bachelor degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Radio and Television. I was able to do voice over work at area radio stations. I wanted to earn a graduate degree so I applied to and was accepted into a gradaute program. I chose to study Education and Theology. I completed my degree in 1996. I have taught on both the high school and collegeiate level. I love to be in the classroom. I love the process of learning. It is important to understand that children learn at different paces and in different ways. It is important for us as instructors to recognize this dynamic. I particularly believe that we have a responsibi

I earned my undergraduate degree of History at The College of Charleston. From there I have been teaching various subjects such as math, Algebra, Geometry, World Geography, U. S. History, Economics, Government. I have taught in many middle and high schools throughout SC and NC. During the last five years I have tutored part time while I taught. As a published author, I have extensive grammar skills due to the various publications I was fortunate enought to be part of. I have taught subjects in Algebra, Geometry, U.S. History, and Western Civilization at the undergraduate level I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. I love working with both children and adults. I think that everyone has the ability to learn ,but teaching styles need to be geared toward the individual. Some seem to learn more through doing while others from lecture. Everyone has the potential to learn just at different paces. I believe that everyone has potential and it is our job as tutors and teachers to help bring it out. There are no stupid children just lazy teachers in my opinion. Given the opportunity I believe that I can help to bring out the potential in those who are in need. I have tutored college students while obtaining my BA and my MA in Sociology. I was given the opportunity to tutor when a number of professors asked for my help. I also helped to tutor high school students while I substitute taught. While trying to obtain my MA in Ed. I worked with 8th graders when working on my student teaching. I have tutored on a wi

I enjoy helping people, children and adults. I know that everyone can learn with the proper teaching method. My tutoring technique incorporates various learning styles. I use visual aids, such as flash cards and color codes, to help my students understand the concepts. Additionally, I encourage my students to take notes and read aloud to assist them in solving the problems. These tools help me to design an individualized lesson plan for my students. I strive to make learning an adventurous journey, rather than a tedious task. As a college graduate, I have strived for academic excellence. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Financial Certification. During my college journey, I gained useful knowledge in Mathematics, History and English. While my exposure includes Level 3 Calculus and Statistics, my expertise is in College Algebra. Over the last five years, I have t

As a 3.88 GPA graduate, I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a BS in sociology minor psychology and MS in Human Services organizational Management and Leadership, which has enabled me to gain understanding in many areas of science and math. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last 2 years I have tutored students in mathematics and sciences. My teaching style is more of a Facilitator/Personal Model/Expert. Emphasizes personal nature of teaching-learning relationship; asks questions, explores options with learners; and focuses on Collaborative, Participant, Independent. I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I firmly believe everyone can learn; the style in which they learn may differ from others, but given the correct approach, all teachers/tutors can be successful. With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity.

I love all children. I believe all children learn in different ways. it's up to us to determine what workds for them and help them acquire the knowledge they need. I am patient, easy going, and caring. My goal is to provide the best education possible. All children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. Educators are the world's gift and teachers hold a dear and near place to every child's heart. Every child can remember a few teahers that changed their lives. When I am not tutoring I volunteer with youth programs and community outreach and habitat for Humanity. I want to help the youth and my community succeed. I have always valued education.
