Learning can be fun!

My style is a learner centered one. I believe in guided learning, where the students make discoveries themselves while at the same time feeling supported and directed. I believe that everyone can learn, and discovering each student's style of learning while promoting confidence is very important to me.
I am currently teaching English as a second language to post-secondary international students at California State University Sacramento. I am a chemical engineer and I currently work for a biofuels plant. I consider myself as having a good way of presenting the science behind biodiesel to the other employees who do not have a scientific background. As such, I often have to create spreadsheets and conduct training sessions to explain the mathematics behind the process in layman’s terms. I have tutored students in chemistry, algebra, Latin and geometry. I tutored for underprivileged children in NYC for a few months in mathematics, and in college I tutored chemistry in my sorority and for other students upon request.
