I have been teaching for 25 years. I have tutored students in beginning Spanish and reading. I have also taught Sunday School and have been a substitute teacher for 11 years. I have just completed student teaching to become an Intervention Specialist. I intend to be certified this spring. I vary my teaching style. Some students are content with just reading while others need hands-on and visual experience. I believe in using technology, as the Smart Board and computer instruction in addition to textbook instruction. I do my best to keep the student's interest in mind, and I work at the student's pace. I teach children and adults according to the wishes of the learner. I love teaching music theory and aural skills; however, I also love to make people discover learning music at their own pace and developments. For example, my husband learns to play certain music that I picked up by ear on the piano which he chose to learn. I teach him how to play something and he eventually learns to dictate it on sheet paper from learning it. He is getting valuable musical knowledge from this, which is coming out in the form of pitch and dictation. As a music Education major, I studied the vocal techniques and instruments of piano, flute and piccolo. I love teaching and helping others learn something new. I love the smile in a child's eyes when they figure out what they have learned. As a type one diabetic, I constantly figure out new things and apply them to my life. I want to impact those I teach for the better, so they can share their knowledge with the world. I believe knowledge is the greatest gift. I graduated from Mount Union College in 2006. After that, I became certified in the Berlitz method and also tutored foreigners working in the states. I also taught elementary Spanish at Woodridge. In college, I would help my friends with their studies.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. Although my BA is in psychology, I also took several courses in Early Childhood Education, including classes such as Reading Development and Elementary Mathematics.
