I have only ever tutored my neighbors two daughters. They both benefitted from it and both of the girls grades went up. Most of the time I would help them with math ,but would also help in any subject they needed, and they would work on their homework as I watched and guided them in the correct direction. If they were truly lost I would reteach the section and try to relate it to something they would better understand. They seemed to enjoy having me over to help and I loved being able to help them when they needed it.
Normally I will watch as the student works and when they get stuck is when I would help them. If they do not understand the material I will go back and teach it again. Once they seem to get it I would give one or two practice problems just to be sure they understand completely. My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Essential class that is encompassed in most sciences.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

I have taught high school students for five years now. However, I have taught college freshman for a year only. But, I do know what I am doing and I know how to help students.
