My comments on tutoring Biology : I have a masters in Nutrition

I’m Lebanese which makes me fluent in Arabic, French and English. I hold a masters degree and several certificates in Nutrition. My background may not be in teaching or languages but there is no better way to learn a language than from a native! In my high school years we took Arabic courses every week for 12 years. As I have been a girl scout I also completed 36hrs of volunteer work to help rebuild schools and cooked for the homeless which makes me patient amd willing to fully help students willing to learn this language based on their goals. So if you are searching for a tutor to learn the complex language of Arabic in a fun and simple way look no further :)

My comments on tutoring Biology : High School or College Level

Evergreen offers very tough, year-long, interdisciplinary scientific programs. In on program we studied General Biology, General Chemistry, Algebra-base physics, and pre calculus at the same time, focusing on how they directly related to one another. The following year I participated in a highly intensive year-long upper division program that followed similar guidelines, where we studied Bio Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Organic Chemistry, Immunology and Microbiology. I was always a great student and I took my scholastic career very seriously. My exam scores were good and I always got full credit & great evaluations (Evergreen doesnt do grades).
My teaching style is very interactive. I believe in reading out-loud and having discussions about what things mean and how they may relate to other aspects of Biology. I believe that everyone has a different learning style ... read more

I have been teaching Biology 1100 for undergraduate offered by Idaho State University for past 2.5 years. Being a biology major i enjoy teaching biology and help student understanding basic foundation of science. Understanding is a part of learning where most of the student struggle. Science would be so much fun if we stick with the basic. Beside biology i have helped students with maths, physics and chemistry which without any doubt is an integral part of science. Being a recent graduate student i have learned the way how to tackle with problems and have successfully employed those problem solving techniques in my teaching carrier.contact me 2085402785 or email: waglpraj@isu.edu

PhD Physics, able to tutor in science, math, engineering

I follow the method of G. Polya in his classic work "How to Solve It". By asking the right questions, one can help the student define his problem, form a plan for the solution, carry out the plan, and examine the result. I also try to work as many difficult problems from the student's text as time permits, in order to show that all problems have a solution, and the student can build confidence in attacking any problem. I try to present the material in as many ways as needed, so that I can match the subject to the student's style of learning.
I was a senior scientist - engineer for 37 years. I retired to care for my comatose wife at home, and she died a few months later. This situation has left me open to new directions. My teaching experience has been 3 years as a graduate teaching assistant, and 2 years as a tutor to friends and family in science and mathematics. My goal is ... read more

Helping students learn and learn how to grow

I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.
My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. It can be fun to learn, and even those subjects a student does not find enjoyable, can prove satisfying. I've taught middle school and high school, as well as at Bellevue College, Renton technical College, and North Seattle Community College. My own experiences include not just teaching, but also professional broadcasting, journalism (both broadcast and print newswriting, creative writing, editing, and reporting), writing a book, supervising employees as well as students, and poetry awards.

I have experience working with students of all ages. I've taught elementary classes, college level labs and adult specific classes. I have always been driven to do well in my studies and have found success helping others achieve their academic goals. Science is so fun and I love helping others understand the complexities of how it all works and fits together.
I love working with students to set and accomplish learning goals. I look for ways to make subject matter relevant to each individual by looking for ways it relates to their own life. I enjoy helping each student discover the overarching themes and conquer the details to create a cohesive understanding of subject matter. As an educator, I look to inspire the spirit of discovery and wonder in my students that I have found in studying sciences.

More About This Tutor...

I have a very active, hands-on teaching style. Since every individual learns differently, I incorporate visual, aural, oral, and physical elements into my all of my lesson plans. I listen to what my student's objectives are, the parent or guardian's objectives, as well as personally identifying overlooked areas for improvement. Having set the goals, I work with the student to achieve those goals.
Since graduating from Bryn Mawr College, I have spent nine years tutoring and teaching students a wide variety of subjects including English as a foreign language, Spanish, Russian, music, elementary academics, adult basic education, special needs education, and transition skills. I have taught in a classroom setting, as well as small group and one-on-one. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past several years developed a passion for helping others understand biology. After finishing my PhD, I worked in the School of Education at the University of Michigan for 3.5 years. During that time I wrote middle school and high school curriculum and worked with teachers to help them incorporate that curriculum into their classrooms. I also spent a semester teaching pre-service teachers methods for teaching science at the middle and high school level. During the 2009-2010 school year, I served as a visiting professor of biology at Western State College of Colorado. I taught both majors and non-majors and worked on developing courses.
During my time at the University of Michigan, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in current research about science education. I spent a lot of time in different classrooms, observing different teaching styles. I am excited about the opp ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During my studies at USU I worked at Adams Elementary both as a Teachers Aid as well as a Mentor during the After School Program. I worked one-on-one as well as in groups of students grade k-5. This position was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable that I've had and would love to continue. I have also taught American Sign Language at the University in their ASL Labs for a year.
Everyone has the ability to learn but not everyone has the same ability. Most people are visual or tactile learners whereas most teachers, in my experience, use verbal/aural instruction methods. I believe in tailoring my teaching to the needs of the student and not to what I am most relaxed with. I have personally taught several tactile students who had to have something in their hands or they could not grasp the concepts. Other times I've instructed students in strong visual methods incorporating drawin ... read more
