I am an Attorney with 20+ years of experience. I have successfully mentored and tutored young students and attorneys; including assisting with preparation for the LSAT and state bar exams. I served in the US Army Reserves as a JAG Officer; and provided instruction and counsel to many young soldiers. I was employed as an elementary school Teacher's Assistant; and have frequently volunteered as a classroom assistant and tutor.

I am a graduate of UNC Greensboro with a BS in Exercise Sport and Science. I have also worked 3 years as an assistant teacher and a floater in a daycare. I helped kids with their homework in math, english and science afterschool, as well as helped teachers plan the weekly lesson plans during the summer programs.
Each child learns differently so I try to explain in ways they can understand. I listen to what and how they need help and try to relate that to helping them understand better. I try to get them to discover the answers on their answer and feel comfortable with explaining how they got the answer.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children. I've taught acting at the Durham Arts Council for three years. The duties from that position included directing students in performances which I helped them create. The plays were written around themes chosen by the camp director. So, in essence, the children and I would research those themes and develop stories which I would then turn into plays using my expertise. Those plays would be performed every two weeks for the entire summer. I was responsible for preparing three classes for this project simultaneously.

After college, I did some private consulting, helping people write admissions essays and prepare for the ACT and other standardized tests. I've also worked as a Google Answers Researcher and as a grants adviser to nonprofit foundations.

I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade.
