Love Kids, Love Writing.

In high school, I was on our school's speech team, I competed at the varsity level all throughout high school. I placed at every competetion, without fail. I placed in advanced English classes in high school, and tested in to the second level of English classes at Western Illinois University my freshman year. I have won state wide writing competetions, and have a poem published in a book of young writers. I went to school for Journalism and Communications, but am currently taking a year off. I have also taken and passed the Illinois basic skills test, and took 2 years of Special Education courses at Western Illinois University.
I believe each student is different; therefore, I change how I approach my teachings based upon the individual.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from Briar Cliff College, I have always enjoyed learning and wanting to help others succeed. I have earned a BA degree in Elementary Education, in which I have taught in the classroom for 2 years, but have also taught at a learning center for a total of 5 years. While in college, I participated in the AmeriCorps tutoring program, in which I privately tutored a few students, along with students in a school setting during the day. Recently, I have been privately tutoring a high school student and a kindergartener mainly for math, reading, English, and writing.

I am a friendly, encouraging, focused teacher. I have worked with children from pre-school to high school. They all can learn and if given the right attention, can achieve academic success. I welcome the opportunity to foster a love of learning in my students.
I was an elementary teacher, I am endorsed in Art, General Science, Home Economics, Language Arts and Social Science at the middle school level. During my full time teaching career, taught T.I.M.S.(integrated math/science) and conducted hands on science labs. I organized the Science Fair, mentored new teachers, directed the after school program in reading, math and hands on learning acitvities.
