A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience in sculpting, drawing, and painting. I have had professional lessons for 6 years and love teaching. Some of my favorite artists include Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, John Singer Sargent, Mark Rothko, Edvard Munch, and Kathe Kollwitz. I much more of an abstract artist but can definitely incorporate traditional, academic approaches. I have a heavy background in art history and also love to incorporate styles, movements, and artists from the past to influence the future.

My style of teaching is very calm and patient. I try to be a "guide on the side" as I help students create knowledge and realize their own potential.I believe the best way to learn is by creating understanding of conceptual ideas rather than attempting to memorize content. This is best achieved through constructive learning experiences that allow students to see the bigger picture and understand the brooder concepts. Once the student has a strong conceptual background, they can begin to work on memorizing facts, figures, and vocabulary to accompany their conceptual understanding.

As a student at UofU and BYU I tutored and was tutored myself. While attending BYU I worked in the student advisement center part-time, mentoring and helping students develop their schedules, and tutored them in subject matter from courses I'd already completed. I served as a volunteer representative for the LDS church for two years in Denmark and Iceland. I speak fluent Danish and Norwegian, and I taught extensively on many topics to all age groups while over there. I've tutored other students, friends, and family in math and math-related fields(up to calculus III level math). I excelled at Math and English composition in school. At my current job I train new team members in restaurant operations as well as handle restaurant finances. I currently work as a manager for Romano's Macaroni Grill in Provo, Murray, and Salt Lake.

As a recent graduate of BYU in Business Management (finance emphasis) I have been able to show excellence in my own school work. I have a major GPA of 3.85 (including many Accounting and Finance classes) as well as receiving a 4.0 while taking the “finance core” classes. Receiving a score of “5” on both the Calculus AB and BC tests during high school prepared me for college. Previous tutoring includes training new workers for employment positions (including a customer service representative and a restaurant position). While serving a 2-year mission for the LDS church I was able to train other missionaries.
