I am a certified high school teacher with over six years of experience teaching and tutoring in the states as well as abroad. I started college full time at the age of 16 and graduated with an associate and two bachelor degrees before my 20th birthday. I am currently completing a master degree and have maintained a 4.0 grade point average through all 6 years of college. I spent a year living in Mexico and six months in Spain and now speak Spanish fluently. I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find out what motivates your kid (money, toys, etc) and set up a system where he/she can earn these rewards through academic success.
