Tutoring experience: I started tutoring when I was pursuing Bachelors in Science majoring in Math. I taught a variety of students of age group from 5 to 17. I taught Arithematic, Numbers theory, Pre- Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, English, Hindi, and Gujarati. I take a look at what the existing instruction materials are attempting to convey and I add to that or expound on that. I use Google extensively to look for similar examples to the problems the student might be having. I believe that it is best to solve any given problem in at least two different ways if you really want to get some insight. It also helps in either verifying your answer or checking if you are in the ballpark. I have an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering. I have a Masters in Systems Engineering. I would describe my teaching style in terms of the activity, belaying. Slack is given to the rope at times so that the climber may advance, or traverse, the face of the mountain. When the climber feels tired, or incapable, the rope needs tightening so the climber stays secure. If the climber falls from the face of the mountain the taught rope will prevent injury or possible demise. I tend to give my students slack when I feel they are advancing in terms of curriculum, yet once I notice their tendency to rest, or falter, I tighten my teaching approach by using more straightforward methods so that they are not confused, or do not wear themselves out with struggle. This is all so they reach the top of whatever mountain they choose to conquer. My "teaching style" changes depending on the needs of my students. In all cases, an initial assessment of both the academic level and the temperament of each student are necessary before I establish a particular style. Some students are comfortable with a quieter, more formal tutor, while others are successful with a more casual, animated tutor. In every situation, I look for opportunities to give positive reinforcement. For example, I usually warm-up with material the student feels relatively confident about, then add new or more challenging concepts, and end with the student feeling successful practicing on his or her own.
