I have taught and tutored in the education field for over 20 years. I have taught 5th and 6th grade been a substitute teacher in Kindergarten through 12th grade. I have over 10 years of experience teaching developmental and freshmen composition courses at the college level and have also directed the composition program at Fresno Pacific University. More recently, I am working as an elementary school administrator and I continue to work at the college level by teaching professional development courses about writing to other college faculty. I believe that my teaching style is personal and individualized. I like to make sure that I know my student as a person so that I can create a successful working relationship with them. I believe that children should be involved with their school work. Hands on work and visual interactions help when certain curriculums don't sink in. Volunteer and worker at camp Kids Inc for two and a half years. Read to elementary students 3 times a week and help them with reading comprehension. Volunteered to be a mentor to a junior high girl. I helped her with advice but also just was a support for her when she needed it. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day. My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student.
