I hold a BA in English from Saint Olaf College and studied a variety of subjects during my time in the Liberal Arts program. I have worked with many college graduates helping them prepare for the GRE in both the English and Math sections, as well as assisting high school students in preparing for their SATs and ACTs. I have also worked with younger students helping them learn beginner level French as I studied French, English and math through college. I like using at least 5 different kinds of activities per session to keep interest. I enjoy working with phonics and have used it extensively to build performance. I enjoy using books that interest each child to help them have a great desire for reading.

I try to target problem areas that students are having. I encourage them to ask questions and stop me when I am explaining something in order for them to understand it better. It really puts a smile on my face when I can see their frustration melt away. There is no set style that I teach it just depends on where the students strengths and weaknesses lie. Mathematics and the sciences don't have to be near as difficult as they are made out to be, it's all about the problem solving process.
