The most important element of achieving success in school is self confidence. The way I help build that in children is by being extremely positive, supportive, and full of praise. I observe their behavior carefully to make sure they truly understand what they are being taught. When something is challenging to a child, I try different methods until I know it “clicked”. Another very important part of tutoring is communicating with the students’ guardians about their behavior or any stressors. When I know what external factors are affecting a child, I can be better prepared for our session.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very hands-on. I believe in practical knowledge and showing students several different ways to understand something. I also believe in providing students the opportunity to figure out solutions to problems on their own with encouragement, instead of just having them copy what I say. I also believe that all learning exercises can be challenging and fun, and not dull and boring. I plan to take what the child is interested in and apply it to their learning.
Since high school, my passion for telling stories led me to my degree in Journalism. I worked as a professional news reporter for two medium market stations and was on my way to work for a larger market. My career took a turn for the better and I found my calling was education.
