I received my BS degree in Math Education in Spring of 2001 at Florida State University. While at FSU I worked in the Math Help Center for three months. I taught math for two years and decided to choose a different career path in Actuarial Mathematics. I am currently finishing my master's degree at Florida State University. For two years I tutored math at all levels at Sylvan Learning Center in Tallahassee. In that time I learned different things related to presenting the math in a way that can be understood regardless of the level of the student. I started to do community service back in November of 2009. After I was unable to find a job I stayed at the local Boys and Girls club as a volunteer. Being there so long the staff and some of the parents appreciated how much work I put into helping the kids. I was considering for a job but because of staffing issues they were unable to hire me full time. Being around children that ranged from ages from six to twelve I had to find many different ways to teach kids how to learn things such as history even though they had problems reading and math even though they were just learning how to count. I am very easy going, but I insist that students do their homework and stay after school for extra help if they need it. I grade work off of understanding.
