Basic Learning Skills Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Saint Charles, ID

I have had six months of experience working in an elementary school, I took a childhood intern class. I worked with 2nd and 5th graders. I mostly helped them with reading and math subjects. There were many times I would work with the students in groups and individually. There were also times I did mini lessons teaching the whole class.

I love teaching kids. All kids can are different in the way they learn. you need to be able to recognize those kids who are auditory learners, and hands on learners and be able to make a good balance of both so both kids may benefit. I like to set goals for each tutor session weather it be something like learning the alphabet or knowing you first ten multiplication facts. You then need to set one long term goal for that child to reach. this way each day they feel as if they have succeeded and learned something. I hope i can be an educator who can make just a little difference in children's lives. I worked with Special Ed kids with reading, writing, and math. I tutored my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years of high school. As an undergraduate student at Utah State University, I spent two years working as a Undergraduate Teaching Fellow, a Teacher's Assistant, and a Supplemental Instructor. I taught labs and assisted students with understanding information in the subject areas of Microbiology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology. I held review sessions, created tests and quizzes, and met with students individually or in groups to answer questions, review tests, or improve study habits. I love teaching because I myself am an avid learner. I have a passion for the subjects I teach and hope that I can instill this same passion in those I teach. I believe that every student can learn the information taught in class, it's more a matter of finding out how each individual student learns. I absolutely love reading and enjoy working with children. I take great pride in helping a child who is struggling with reading to see them improve daily. I am very patient and kind. I think that a child really thrives with the one on one interaction and I believe that all children want to succeed, though they all learn differently. I think treating each child with respect and dignity is very important. I have earned a paraprofessional certification through the Box Elder School District. I have extensive training through Americorps. I have successfully developed a reading program for Adele C. Young Intermediate School ages 6th and 7th grade. I have had the privilege of spending many hours with struggling readers helping to build their reading levels and comprehension skills. I worked at the Brigham City Library for 6 years and Utah State University for 2 years as a facilitator.
