My longest position was at University of Massachusetts, Lowell campus, (1993 through 2004, before moving to Florida), teaching 3 different levels of Freshman Chemistry. I have tutored chemistry, math, and biology in Florida since 2007, as an employee of Advanced Learning Center, St. Petersburg, until 2011, and independently to the present time. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education.
