I enjoy teaching children at all levels. I find that children learn at different speeds and by different means. So, to be truly effective you have to present the information to the broadest base of students and hope you address all their needs. Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I am excellent at breaking things down and making them easy to remember. Relating the subject material to something the learner can understand is key. I am very patient and will take the time to learn how to help each student in the most productive way I can. Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills. So far, I have only tutored people in Calculus, and Physics, but I am comfortable with Differential Equations, Discrete Math, freshman Chemistry and Biology, and pretty much anything Computer Science related at the undergraduate level.

This particular position interests me because I struggled with math through middle school and understand the frustration it can create for a student. Mathematics is now my strongest subject and I chose the profession of accounting to utilize those strengths. During my time at college, I helped other students with their studies in math and business, specifically statistics and quantitative analysis. Although this teaching experience was with college level students, I have held a summer job working with 8-12 year olds for the past four years. When I finish my Master’s Degree, I may consider teaching at an institution such as CCAC because I enjoy helping others with their education. As a Chatham graduate, I have discovered a wonderful experience throughout my college career in Music. I have earned an Associate degree, BS in Music and Bachelor degree in Science of Music and Arts & Design. I have gained an outstanding interest and energy in Music Performances as well as Music Educations in my study at Chatham University. I have experience piano playing for 25 years at my home. I have and learn to interpret music in theory for 4 years in several areas of study.
