Experience Summary
Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too. I also helped with their after-school program, I also created supplemental study guides and multimedia software to help students to improve their study skills. Tutoring has been rewarding, because it has increased my interest in the field of education. Subsequently, I am seeking certification in Biology 7-12th. In the interim, my goal is to further supplement my experiences of teaching through participation in tutoring.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching children at all levels. I find that children learn at different speeds and by different means. So, to be truly effective you have to present the information to the broadest base of students and hope you address all their needs. Having a great level of flexibility in your lesson plans is need to ensure that no one student falls behind.
