I have a bachelor of arts from Idaho State university. I have worked in the ISU library for 24 years as a customer service rep at the main reference desk. I was a substitute teacher in the pocatello school district for one year following graduation. I teach library workshops on how to use the library catalog and databases to students, staff, faculty and the general public.

During the completion of my BMA, I accepted a tutoring position and tutored all students (including disabled students) for two years. I eventually moved on to substituting for professors and even gained an assistant to the professor position, which included developing and teaching lesson plans. I have a strong interest in the sciences of the world. I earned a bachelor degree in ecology including a minor in botany. I also earned a Master degree in biology studying mountain quail. During my undergraduate and graduate education I participated in the GK-12 program as a scientist in residence. I spent 20 hours a week in the middle school and high school setting for two years. The purpose of the GK-12 program was to help increase scientific literacy in southern Idaho. I am keenly aware of the challenges that face middle school and high school students in grasping scientific concepts. I also taught biology at the college level and I have recognized that many students are at different levels of scientific understanding. While practicing law, I taught several community education courses on legal subjects for Idaho Legal Aid. I also was a certified CPR instructor, but that certification has expired. I attended and completed the "Train the Trainors" course from the National District Attorney's Association and was chosen as one of four from 400 students to be a trainor at the next session. As a PSR, I worked one on one with students in the school setting and on an individual setting working on behavioral issues that prohibited learning in a regular setting.
