Experience Summary
While practicing law, I taught several community education courses on legal subjects for Idaho Legal Aid. I also was a certified CPR instructor, but that certification has expired.
I attended and completed the "Train the Trainors" course from the National District Attorney's Association and was chosen as one of four from 400 students to be a trainor at the next session.
As a PSR, I worked one on one with students in the school setting and on an individual setting working on behavioral issues that prohibited learning in a regular setting. I also taught one on one, in an individual setting with these students. I worked with children from Kindergarten through High School.
Teaching Style
Teaching is in my blood. Both my parents were teachers. My father was a college professor and my mother was an elementary school teacher.
As a PSR working in the school setting I students that were considered by some as untrainable. Often the students believed they were unable to learn or were dumb since they had always been told they were. I was able to work with some of the most difficult. I would make up games and contests to get them to try something. I believe in lots of encouragement and was recently told by one of my former clients, who couldn't read or write in the 7th grade, "I am really going to graduate this year. I knew I could do it because you showed me I can do it." She did too!
